( First Day of Kindergarten! )

Hello August, late nights, early mornings ...... and Kindergarten!
Blogland took a little back seat this past month, mostly due to alot of family,
celebrations, birthdays and a little chaos of work. But, I wouldn't dare let any
of that interfere with sharing these adorable pictures ....

I was sitting in our living room about three nights ago, thinking about the fact that
we now have two FIVE year olds ;) How did that happen? (don't worry, birthday
photos are coming up soon!) And it occurred to me that we would be going to the
first day of kindergarten on Monday.
I am so excited for Drew and Macey to be starting this new venture. They read
every book on the shelf, they count to 120 just for fun, they have become little sponges
and absorb every detail that you can teach them. I love watching them learn. And, this
new, exciting time is just the beginning ;)

... let's hope she didn't make that face during class today! ;)
So, here we are - in school! Can you believe it?! I'm looking forward to them
coming home every day and teaching us a few things.

it's feeling very 'summery' around here with this very chic, yellow and black color
combo and my obsession for polka dots is pretty obvious ;)

... the lovely yellow paper, telephone and vintage card are all from the Antique Store
Collection at Pretty Little Studio.

... i've had those vintage letter stickers for probably as long as i've been scrapping (no
kidding!), so glad they came in handy! ;)

( Swimming Lessons | Round Two )

We're on round two of swim lessons for our little fish. And, let me tell ya, there are
times that I couldn't believe what I was seeing!

Diving (or jumping or belly flopping!) into the pool, off the diving board; treading water;
actual swimming from the center of the pool to the edge; diving from the side of the pool;
and I think I even saw a breast stroke in there ;) Practice, practice, practice!

(giggle!) This pictures makes me laugh! It looks like she's saying a little prayer before
she jumps in!
We're doing 'bobs' - in the water, out of the water, in the water, out of the water, deep
breath and repeat ;) And, floating on our backs!

We're so excited to see them make progress and enjoy swimming so much. Tomorrow
is the last day of our two week lesson, through school, but I have a feeling we'll be
signing up another round! ;)

we celebrated another birthday this weekend - mine! ;)
i got to sleep in and then wake up to these two cuties guarding the presents
very closely...

... they helped make my favorite breakfast (as favorite as breakfast food can get! just

not a fan!) ... scrambled eggs with avocado and tomato.

... and when two four years olds plan your birthday - day, it starts with the new winnie

the pooh movie ;) good times!

we headed home after that for a little family celebration and more favorite foods!

super yummy crab cakes, tomato mozzarella salad, chocolate dipped frozen bananas,

crepes and more!

... after dinner, my mom planned a little surprise - WATER BALLOONS!

when i walked out to the deck, this was waiting for me......

... and the traditional cake photos. you'll notice (2) things about this photo:

a) notice i'm soaking wet from head to toe! compliments of my dad who got me

with a water balloon smack in the middle of my chest ;)

and b) the numbers on the cake! little miss macey may or may not still believe that

i'm 21. and when a four year old who can do her math adds one to 21, she gets 22!

she's convinced. what can i say? =)

8 hours in the park and we did everything we could fit in ;)
We headed straight for Camp Snoopy, but Drew and Macey got sidetracked by the
Sky Ride, which was totally fine since it took us from one end of the park all the way
to the other end where we needed to be.
My favorite was watching them drive around in the bumper boats, but sitting on the
kiddie roller coaster, with their hands raised high in the air - a very close second ;)

( Kalahari | Cedar Point Vacation! )

Our first summer trip! We've been a little busy lately (hence the lack of blogging!) and
this past weekend was packed full of road trips and fun ;)
First stop...

The Kalahari Resort! We met some friends and spent two days swimming like fish ;)
Splashing in the wave pool, WATERSLIDES! eating, drinking and more swimming
like fish (ala Drew and Macey style). Great time and we wore the babes out!

A short trip up the road and we spent our last day in Cedar Point Amusement Park.

A snapshot of Drew and Daddy ;) Most of our pictures are usually two 4 year olds,
but I managed to get them together after a cool ice cream treat!

Pretty Little Studio is turning out new collections faster than I can scrap! (but I'm not
complaining!) Especially when a) it revolves around one of my favorite subjects to
scrap - birthdays! and b) it's this adorable with bright colors and fab patterns!

Clowning Around has so many of my favorite products; paper flags, flashcards and
die cuts, including that adorable clown! (p.s. I created the little flags with a few
decorative stick pins, some favorite papers and hot glue - you can make them too!)

It's A Party, my favorite paper from the collection and the vintage die cut circles!

Paired with my favorite EK Success Scalloped Punch and some 7 Gypsies word

strip stickers makes for a quick and easy birthday card!

... the definition of "daddy":

Someone who will drop all of his work obligations, set aside his homework that is due,

put on his shoes and tromp around in the yard - at 9:00pm - catching fireflies because

his two little ones need them for a school project the next morning :)

Places them each, very gently, into two zip lock baggies, pokes a bazillion holes into

each bag, lays them on the counter and secretly hopes they make it through the night...

(unlike the goldfish from last weekend)!

... that's Drew and Macey's daddy ;) He loves them beyond measure and it couldn't
be more obvious. This one has him wrapped around her finger, most days. (we're
minus a boy who wasn't particularly fond of having his picture taken today!)

Drew had a very specific plan for Father's Day. A few days ago, he gave me a list
of the things he was sure Derek wanted and needed. The list was very detailed and
sounded like he had been thinking about it for some time ;)
... a new cell phone (because Daddy's is old!), two new shirts, a tank top (?)!, Pringles
potato chips (he says those are Daddy's favorite!), breakfast in bed and some
coconut milk (haha!). And, he got most of it, including breakfast in bed courtesy of
Drew and Macey and their fabulous waffle making skills (helped by Grandma Jane
and Aunt Kris, of course!)

... here he is after getting all of his presents! (with an extra little one in there!) =)

We had a full weekend of traveling and visiting with family, but we managed to sneak

out for a little play time tonight. A late dinner and fun round of miniature golf (no

matter what my sister's Facebook page says, she didn't beat me by that much!) ;)

Last month, I ordered my very first Studio Calico kit, Lawn Party, and then waited
by the mailbox not-so-patiently for it to arrive. I was super excited ;)
As soon as the sneak peeks were available, I was drooling over the SC number
stamp. I had no idea the rest of the kit was going to be so spectacular! I'm hooked!

... did I mention that I *love* that stamp? ;) Love it.
And the rest of the kit - amazing. I ordered more of the exclusive SC papers and I'm
hoarding them for later.

A few days before my kit arrived I had ordered the October Afternoon Five & Dime
line. The tickets and vintage stickers went perfectly with papers in the kit.

... the little paper flower was created using a scalloped circle punch in two sizes, a small
circle and the Pebbles brad for the center. Fold and crease the circles before layering, for
a little more of a worn look.
And, my last project, a birthday pin with a sweet Jenni Bowlin butterfly...

There's a few more that I'll save for later :) Happy Tuesday, hope you had a fabulous

Sassafras Lass | Birthday Bash

(giggle!) that rhymes! ;)
ever had one of those paper lines that you order the entire collection and then just
sit and look at it for months, because it's just so fabulous you can't even think about
cutting it up? monstrosity by sassafras is one of those lines! i 'love' this line and i've
been hoarding it for.ever.

... i finally decided it was time to make some cute, scrappy projects with it ;)
this is the first in line of what is sure to be many more! birthday bash!

... you can easily recreate this little banner by cutting a few triangles, about 1" tall,
and stringing them together with tiny jump rings. add a foam dot at each end of
the banner before attaching it to your card so it appears to 'pop' off the page! ;)

Mother's Day. and i could be one of the luckiest girls in the world.

... a lifetime of unconditional love, comfort and support. she's been my cheerleader, my

playmate, friend and a teacher. i couldn't have asked for a more amazing mom. happy

... speaking of the photo (one of my all time faves, circa 1979)... does anyone find

Happy Easter! We've been busy with all of the Easter traditions; coloring eggs, egg
hunting in the yard, waiting for the Easter Bunny. None of which could have possibly
topped Little Miss Macey discovering GUM! She'll never be the same ;)

"Momma, this is so wonderful! I can't believe I'm allowed to chew gum!" "Momma!
Can you send a message to all of our family, my cousins and grandma to tell them I'm
allowed to chew gum now?" "Can I chew it every day? What if we run out?" haha!
Drew... not so impressed... He chewed it for about two minutes, then spit it out ;)

Drew and Macey like to call the boiled eggs 'rotten eggs'.

Egg coloring was very serious business and very detailed ;)

This is one birthday we couldn't wait to help celebrate! Everett turning 5!
His momma did a fabulous job with the party and we had so much fun. There were

It looks like spring has finally arrived! So thankful for the 'slightly' warmer temps and I
love looking out our front window to see the daylilies starting to pop up - one of my favorite
things about our house! They are the most beautiful shade of yellow and bloom all summer.

I'm starting to think we should rename this the 'Birthday Blog'! =) We've celebrated
alot of birthdays in the last few weeks! (and none of them were ours, ha!) But, that doesn't
keep Drew and Macey from reminding us they have their own birthday plans completely
laid out, right down to the cake(s)! Can't just have one, ya know!
So, this past weekend, we got to help this little cutie celebrate her 4th birthday...

And, her little brother was enjoying his 1st birthday cake, NASCAR style!

They even got to celebrate Easter just a little early, with plenty of candy, Easter baskets,

and an indoor egg hunt (it was a little chilly outside!).

We've got plenty of candy at our house right now! ;)

i think we've been to about a half dozen birthday parties in the last month! (which is ok
with me, i love birthdays!) especially the princess kind ;) two of those this past month.
... and the swimming kind! one of those recently.
this past weekend, drew and macey helped little miss princess emily to celebrate her
third birthday - in royal style!

complete with princess dresses, royal knights, crown decorating with lots of glitter, jewels and oh,

I snuck into my scraproom a few days ago, had a chance to ooh! and ahh! over some
of the fabulous Pretty Little Studio products that have recently made their way into my
'must hoard this stash' and created this little card...

... I have a love for a few products that I can't ever seem to get enough of: flashcards,

tickets, apples and pretty much anything with a little vintage twist ;)

... this is a tri-fold card, 4" wide. Cut a piece of cardstock 12"x4", tri-fold and shape

the overlapping top layer to a point, rounded or the envelope style I used here.

( Mini Vacation )

Last weekend we spent a little time away, swimming, sliding and splashing at
Great Wolf Lodge. Drew and Macey absolutely love it and we love that there
are so many fun things for them to do, even as little as they are! Including their
very own waterslides!

There are little slides, big slides, one that made me catch my breath a little! a wave pool,
hot tub, gigantic buckets that drop water and Drew's favorite - the lazy river ;)
And this, the family raft ride!

We spent two days and we were all pooped by the end of the second day!

... and we can't wait to go back! :)

we had a little sleep over at our house a few weeks ago with jodi and cooper - or 'coopy' as
macey lovingly refers to him =) she started calling him that the moment they walked in the door.
i have no idea where that child comes up with some of these things!

i don't think she left his side the entire 24 hours! she fed him, played with him and i think

she may have even helped aunt jodi change diapers. she definitely has baby fever ;)

and she gets in honestly. i was the same way when i was little; always loving on my cousins,

wanting to help out whenever i could. she'll be a good babysitter one of these days!

... and it's certainly not the first time she's fallen in love with a new little one ;)

last spring, at just about this time, she got a new baby cousin. carson will be turning

one very soon and i know she can't wait to see him!

drew can't wait for them to grow up so they can play legos and monster trucks! =)

here's a little recap, starting with a 'mommy and us' day with drew and macey that included
lunch at drew's favorite restaurant - all the way on the other side of town - as he likes to refer
to it, followed by gnomeo and juliet (with popcorn of course!).
then, off to chicago with stephanie for a little girl's weekend at dena's house! lots of shopping, wine,
food and yummy dessert! hope you had a wonderful weekend. xoxo

I have just a few, last Valentine's Day projects to share with you ;)
This one, I just couldn't resist! Every time I looked at that heart paper, I just kept
seeing a cute pair of boxers (giggle!).

I drew the boxers freehand and traced onto cardstock, then covered the cardstock

with the patterned paper. Cut a few strips of extra cardstock for the waist and glued

in place. It was super easy ;)

This vintage circle tag was embellished with a tiny bit of glitter and adhered to a

tissue paper rosette, the little stick pins give it just an extra special touch.

All of the projects were made with the Pretty Little Studio Be My Valentine Collection!

And, I loved that little Peppermint Creative chocolate heart box so much, I made a second

every year, i am amazed at how quickly the time goes by. how could it possibly be four and half years since we welcomed these two into the world?

every month, i find myself scribbling little notes trying to capture a memory of the sweet words they say, snapping photos to capture a glimpse of their personalities and documenting their daily routines as to not forget a single moment of our lives together.

every day, i am forever grateful to have them and hug them just a little tighter or kiss them just a little more. i had no idea being a mother would be so amazingly precious and so wonderfully emotional.

at four and a half, you:
..have decided that putting pepper on your macaroni and cheese makes it soooo much better!
..still like to put on your 'underwears' backwards so you can see the cartoon character.
..have officially graduated to a size 5 in everything. pants are too short, sleeves are too small, your adorable tootsies are too big for your socks, it's outta control! stop growing so fast, please. we can't keep up!
..still wear a size 12 shoe. at least we think. that will probably change the minute we step into the shoe store.
..can recite the pledge of allegiance from beginning to end.
..still working on the tying of your shoes =)
..can follow the directions on your legos and put together every shape waaay faster than me or dad!
..are reading short books from school and spelling or sounding out everything. i mean everything! it is amazing to watch you learn and you are so excited.
..have moved into your 'big kid seat belt' and can reach everything in the back seat. keeping you in it is the challenging part!
..can build the best lincoln log cabin of anyone i know!
..have already decided that your 5th birthday party will be at the indoor waterpark. ;)
..are a complete snuggle bug and oh so loveable. you must tell me you love me a million times a day.

i'm so proud of you and how you're learning to read. i love watching you play with your sister and use your imagination being the 'cooker' or the 'teacher', building and creating new 'inventions' - your latest and greatest imaginative play. you have such good manners and you share your toys. when you can't find a toy, you're quick to ask 'momma, did we donate that?' i promise, we didn't donate everything, buddy! you're constantly looking out for your sister, taking care of her, and you give in to everything. a good trait to have later when there's a girl in your world, haha! =) but, let's not get ahead of ourselves... i'm not ready to share you with any heartbreakers just yet! because you are one handsome little boy! (just like your daddy) you still wake me up at 1:30am - on the dot - every. single. night. and if we're lucky, sometimes around 5am, too ;) you always want me to sleep with you and ask "can you snuggle me"? you're a complete tv junkie, i'm pretty sure you could watch cartoons 24/7. you're perfectly content on stay home day to just 'stay home'. you're easy to please, thoughtful and oh so calm.

at four and a half, you:
..love to have your hair braided, but it must be with one pink pony on the top and one purple on the bottom.
..are the slowest eater on the planet ;) especially if you're lucky enough to watch a cartoon at the same time. which is totally my fault, but i have to constantly remind you, keep eating ;)
..still love blueberries and strawberries. you eat the strawberries like an ice cream cone, it's adorable.
..can recite the pledge of allegiance from beginning to end.
..have mastered tying your shoes!
..have asked twice now how babies are made. how long do you think we can dodge that question?!
..know every word to every song that taylor swift sings ;) and you LOVE my iphone and daddy's ipod, you're so into music and i just love that.
..are completely over the nightime pull up! yay!
..like your brother, have decided the indoor water park - with pizza - is the best choice for the 5th birthday celebration! surprisingly, you've not decided on a cake. that's usually the first thing!
..have also graduated into your 'big kid seat belt' and you're not quite as squiggly as your brother.
..write your name, my name, daddy or drew on every.single.piece.of.paper you can get your hands on! you love to help with the grocery list and you're constantly sounding out the letters to every word. from a sweatshirt i'm wearing, to a sign on the road, to labels on boxes, you're a spelling bee! i love watching you read your books and play school. you're a good teacher =)
..have such good manners and you are so very polite.

i love your sweet, feisty personality. you're like sugar and pepper all at the same time. you're determined and independent. you're playful and compassionate. you ask for something and really want it now, but follow up with "take your time, momma". you're thoughtful. you love to play school and restaurant; you're two favorite things. your play name is almost always one of your teachers from school. your babies and bears aren't in time out nearly as much as they used to be (thank you!). you love your brother, constantly hugging and kissing on him. during movie time, you snuggle right up to him, under a blanket and could stay there for hours. just a little shy of your brother's height, he has you by an inch or two, but you make up for that with your mighty personality; you're a pistol sometimes ;) you have that fake, dramatic cry down to a tee. a tee. i really have no idea where you could have gotten your drama from ;) ha! you're beautiful and smart and i can't wait to see what you can accomplish. none of your jeans fit. i swear, you have the longest legs. you're still in a size 11 shoe, but you'd rather wear your play princess high heels around the house every night. you are quite loveable and have to hold my hand at bedtime every night, asking me not to forget the 'message' :) we are so very lucky to have you ♥

...what half birthday celebration would be complete without cupcakes, candles and a little singing?! twice!

drew and macey were so excited about their little 'half birthday' celebration. i was so glad they understood the concept ;) we made cupcakes, iced them and decorated with lots of sprinkles! they each ate TWO! and since daddy's birthday is just two days from theirs, he also got a cupcake ;)

I am so excited to tell you about THIS!

I am a huge fan of Pretty Little Studio and they have the most adorable vintage tags, flashcards, banners and whimsical papers. I promise you will love it! Check out the Chalkboard Bracket Cards. You can write on those with a white sharpie or white gel pen and it looks just like chalk! Or, the Children's Vintage Flashcards! I'm gonna need all of those ;)

I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened my design team box! I think Melissa snuck in just about everything and I couldn't wait to play with all of it!

I have so many projects to share with you =) Since it's almost 'Happy Hearts Day', we'll start there! ♥

i love taking drew and macey on little day trips, whether it's something big or small.
seeing the look on their faces during a show or when a favorite character appears is
absolutely the best. or when you bring them popcorn, that's pretty cool, too. =)
because they love popcorn!
saturday we had tickets to disney on ice and it was fantastic!

... they even managed to talk me into one 'rex the dinosaur' and one 'bullseye' (and

we'd been looking for him for awhile!) they were pretty convincing!

If you grabbed the new Treat Bag Toppers from Two Peas in a Bucket, don't stop with just

one project! They were too cute not to use over and over.

I took the 4x6 toppers and resized them just a little smaller at 2x3, added Drew and Macey's

names, printed and cut - Voila! Adorable place cards that will turn any breakfast or lunch

into a special occasion =)

Drew and Macey planned the perfect pre-game, Go Bears!, football party for their
daddy. Complete with blue party punch, handmade football flags (they never pass
up an opportunity to make a 'project' in my scrap room!) ...

... and ~~daddy's~~ their favorite foods ;) Chili, chips and salsa, banana pudding, Pringles,

cheese and sausage crackers...

... and crescent dogs! Can't have a party without crescent dogs - with cheese!

They made all of the food (with a little help) and set everything up.

Unfortunately, despite our cheering, enthusiastic football food and matching outfits,

they couldn't quite pull it off :( Luckily, daddy didn't throw anything at the television.

But, Drew did walk around the house most of the evening saying 'i just can't believe

the Bears didn't win momma'. =) There's always next year!

... at any given moment, you might hear some pretty amazing, wonderful or even
hilarious things around our house. seriously, with two four year olds running around,
the stuff that pops out of their mouths is quite quotable ;)

macey jayne: "can i be a mermaid for halloween this year?"
drew: "macey, you have to have a tail and can't walk! i guess i'll have to carry you around
in a bowl all day!"

"eeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww! the tuna noodle casserole touched me!"
- that one, straight from my husband, who hates tuna, only eats CHICKEN and
is apparently afraid of tuna noodle casserole ;)

drew: "mama, where is my 'magination' ? can i see it?

drew: "daddy, who sings the songs on your ipod?"
daddy: "those are rock stars."
drew: "when can i take rock star lessons?"

macey jayne: "mama, can you hand me the 'handatizer', please?" =)

after asking drew if he'd like to get his sister something for christmas, he responded
with "yes! i'll get her some really, really special." awwwwwwww.

macey jayne: "grandma berta, i think it's ok, really... but, i accidentally colored
bunny (grandma and grandpa's dog) with my purple marker... but, i already tried
to lick it off. it's ok."

drew: "mama, macey's still sleeping, but i put her favorite pink blanket on her and
gave her a bear and her raggedy ann doll. but, i didn't tell her i love her because
that would wake her up." ;)

macey jayne: "mama, can we stay at aunt stephanie's house, she's the best cook!"

drew: (observing the moon one night, in a very unique crescent shape) "mama, why
is the moon upside down tonight?"

macey jayne: "just a second drew, my hands are chipsy." (after eating a bag of
cheetos papaw john gave her)
drew: "oh, ok, mine are too. my chips in the blue bag had sprinkles all over them."
(eating doritos!) =)

drew: (trying to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich) "mama, the peanut butter
keeps sticking and the jelly wouldn't 'caropicate'!"

... there you have it!

and, a quick Two Peas Tuesday project. snapped these photos at our local
ice cream parlor two summers ago when we were just learning - and trying oh so hard!
to eat ice cream cones ;) mostly wearing all of the blue ice cream!

i met a man today, probably well into his 80's, maybe even close to 90.
he walked into my office and very politely asked if we could cater a reception
for his wife who had just passed away last Friday.
you could tell he was a little fragile, but sharp as a tack.
i offered my condolences and with a wide smile and laugh in his voice, he
replied "oh, don't be! she was falling apart."
he continued to reminisce about her and asked me to quote the finest
champagne, strawberries and chocolate - lots of chocolate, for his 26
guests. he noted that she was a diabetic and they were going to celebrate
the 40 years and 89 days of insulin shots with an enormous amout of sugar ;)

i barely met this man for 15 minutes before he left my office, but it was
evident that he had spent a lifetime of love and happiness with a woman
he adored. it was a nice reminder of how endearing love can be.

today...
i have been married to this boy for 7 years =)
and i'm looking forward to a lifetime of love and happiness.
happy anniversary.

... and thank you for the sushi, my favorite wine, the chocolate cake -
especially the chocolate cake! and the fabulous monopoly game night
with our two precious little ones. xoxo

( Let's Go Sledding! )

This was our first sledding adventure =) And, what better time than on
Christmas Eve!

Hats, snow boots, snow pants, mittens and one, brand new sled!

I won't tell you that we use the term "adventure" loosely...
Considering the sledding took place on the driveway at Grandma and
Grandpa's house.... ssssshhhhh ;) It was pure ice and it works!

I'm not going to do any snow and ice dances, but if we get to do it again in
January I won't be complaining ;) It was too much fun!!

October was definitely filled with pumpkin carving, trips to the

Santa has definitely been here!

Drew crawled into our bed about 6:50am, whispering "momma,

do you think Santa's been here yet?" Then he laid there very

patiently (small emphasis on the very) waiting for his sister to

wake up. She decided to sleep until 8am! =)

Drew's favorite toy is his new Batman cave! And, Macey

loved her play kitchen!

We took a little trip to the farm at Traders Point Creamery where
Santa Claus had planned to make a visit ;)

Drew and Macey got to sit on Santa's lap and of course he asked
if there was anything they would like for Christmas?
M: A Barbie house and a Polly Pocket house!
D: Puzzles!

He even brought a few of his reindeer from the North Pole!
Drew and Macey are sure this is Blitzen =)

for my birthday this year - we'll say my 29th =) (it's my blog, i can
be whatever age i want, haha!) my dad gave me this card:

... to tell you the truth, he may have bought me a present also, but i
don't remember. it's not that i normally forget my presents or i'm
not grateful, it's just this card was one of my favorite gifts.

i love the sentiment. i love the humor. and i love that i was just
given permission to stay a child. i'm taking that advice!

today is my dad's birthday. happy birthday daddy!

... and the first 4"!
Macey and Drew couldn't wait to get their little hands and feet
into all that white powdery dreaminess!
But, we needed snow boots (again)! You might recall THIS post
from last year when we were visiting family and had to send Daddy
all over town for snow boots and pants. Same thing - different year!
$40 and two hours later, we were ready to go!

Drew and his 'pirate smile'. Poor little guy, the sun was shining so
bright!

We spent alot of time in the backyard building a snow fort,

throwing snow balls and of course, the tasting of the snow!

I think M found the snow to be just a tad bit cold on her tongue =)

mommy and daddy get the turkey at target. mommy and daddy
put the turkey in the oven on 23 degrees. the turkey cooks for
13 hours. mommy cuts the turkey and we eat. =)

macey's turkey recipe:
mommy cleans the turkey. mommy cooks the turkey in the oven
on 9 degrees. the turkey cooks for 2 minutes. (hmmmm.) when the
turkey is done mommy and daddy cut the turkey. they put salt on
the turkey at the end. =)

we definitely have so much to be thankful for!

Journaling, whether in your scrapbooks, notes, journals, etc. is
definitely hard. Putting your thoughts on paper, in the exact
fashion you'd like to convey them isn't an easy task.

I really enjoyed reading all of your comments and how you try to
journal, but find it difficult because you're looking for the right words,
you're afraid of being judged, you don't particularly like your
handwriting or you feel you don't tell the story well.

Whatever your reason, put your fears and frustrations aside
and tell your story - however you want! There are no rules and
no one is judging you =) I promise you'll be happy you did!

i'm a lucky girl.
there is, without a doubt, no question about that. My life is
blessed beyond measure with people that i am lucky enough
to call my friends.

today, the ella publishing team is celebrating friendship!

i'm celebrating the amazing friendship between "the five of us".

and, it goes beyond girlfriends. i'm lucky enough that i would
consider my parents in the best friend category =) i especially love
the one-hundred-a-day-phone-calls-for-random-reasons! =)
my little sister is most definitely my friend, having her as a sister
is just a bonus! (even despite a 14 year age difference. and since
i'm staying in my early 30's, she gets to pretend to be 16, haha!)

my friend kecia is as true as they come. my grandparents are
way fun to hang out with, like old pals... it's nice to have family
that you would consider as close as a friend ;)

and, my adorable husband. my best friend. he's it. (and knows it!)
not to mention the fabulous family he brought with him =)

My newest Halloween card... and I'm in love with this paper from
Martha Stewart! You may not be able to see in the detail, but those
creepy little spiders are flocked and velvety when you touch
them. I added some Echo Park stickers and a tag from 7 Gypsies.

I should probably sneak a toddler photo in here before my

family begins to riot ;)

This is what 6:45am on a Monday looks like when a) two toddlers

are awake before they are supposed to be! b) momma is not

quite ready for work and c) she's a single parent for the morning

because daddy had an early work meeting. So, we put plan B

in place - a Halloween magazine and momma's iPhone for a few

games =) Worked like a charm and I got an extra 15 minutes to

get ready for work, ha!

Welcome to October!
I love this time of year, the chilly temperatures perfect for my
favorite sweaters (I was really tired of my summer clothes!), the
smell of pumpkin spices, leaves changing colors, apple cider, and
best of all Halloween! Which is really just an excuse to decorate
our house with super cute Halloween goodies and to make adorable
craft and scrappy projects!

I'm going to share Halloween treats with you all the way up to
October 31st! I have a full month of cards, projects, inspiration
and giveaways planned!

some googly eyes and a little first aid tape for the "mummy"

You know, the one that takes her camera everywhere. And,
clearly I'm not biased at all ;) My Canon Digi Rebel even goes
to the grocery store with me.

I don't even mind that practically every person in the store is
looking at me, thinking "what on Earth is she doing?!"
I'm ok with that.
Because in 20 years when we're looking back at all of those
photos and Drew and Macey are saying "Momma, you took a
photo of us there, seriously?" They'll be glad I did =)

... and I won't lie - it does make for super cute scrap projects ;)

This photo reminds me of one of my favorite movie lines.
"Clean up in aisle 4!!" "Herb, we were NEVER IN aisle 4!"
Michael Keaton from Mr. Mom - love that!

I didn't even mention what huge helpers they are! I barely did
any of the work - they shopped for everything.
Nothing nutritious in their carts, but they did help. ;)

... this is seriously the longest week ever. And it's only Tuesday. *sigh*

... there are about 8 loads of laundry on top of the dryer that need put
away, dishes in the sink and toys e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e. I'm kinda just
hoping they'll disappear by morning. Bets on that?

... i could have stayed at Barnes & Noble all night, with Stephanie,
flipping through crafty magazines, gabbing about everything, drinking
hot apple cider ;) - that's not the confession part... I took a photo of
a super cute crafty project that I want to try, from one of the
magazines (using my iphone). I feel so guilty for not buying the book!

... i recently starting adding ice to my milk. I love milk - drink it all
the time, but it really has to be super COLD.

... i had just about the worst dinner possible. Seriously, it was a
disaster of carbs. I have to eat better, starting now.

... there are about 700 emails in my inbox at work and I think there's
a small emotional breakdown coming if I don't get it cleaned out!

... until a few days ago, there was only one song on my ipod. Sad ;)

... now there are four songs on my ipod! Katy Perry's Teenage
Dream is one of them (LOL!) probably shouldn't admit this one!

... my purse weighs about 10 pounds right now. Must clean it out.

... i have 8 Words with Friends games going on my iphone right now.

... my son told me he loved me because I wear pretty shirts and my
heart just about melted ;)

... there's $100 worth of scrappy stuff in my cart at Two Peas....
Don't worry husband - not acting on that any time soon ;)

... i love the toy aisle at Target (maybe as much as Macey & Drew!)

... and - I'm super behind on posting my Two Peas projects for the

... Officially in swimming lessons! =)

... and loving every minute. (aside from the freezing cold pool
and the occasional water up your nose, of course)

This would be the very first day. 30 minutes into our first lesson.
Ever. And we've decided that the diving board looks like a really
good idea ;) ala Macey style, like only she can... fearless.

... and Drew, the second day of lessons - off the diving board, not
once, not twice, but THREE times. (he actually swung on the
rope the first day, instead of the diving board!)

Can you picture one, very nervous momma?!

So far, so good. I think we'll be swimming in no time at all!

Dear Apple,
I love my new iphone, really love it. I don't miss the pink dinosaur
phone, the inability to receive photos or the black and white screen.
Overall, I'm very happy...

BUT, a camera without a flash? Really? It's the iphone.
You made it very difficult for me to take photos of me and one
of my besties, at 9pm, during the Kings of Leon concert. Ugh.

And, while we're on the subject. The battery. Good gracious.
It barely lasts a day! Double ugh.
Oh, and one more thing, the charger cord - could it possibly BE
any shorter???

But, I really do love it ;)

Walked all the way across the park to find out
we were too short for the Spongebob movie :(
Played lots of midway games. And won!!
Saw a hoedown show.
Rode the big kid roller coaster.
Bumped cars. Left. Right. Left. Right. :)

Normally, a postman blog might be about me getting lots of scrap
goodies in the mail ;) but this is about the NEW
Peppermint Creative Mr. Postman digi kit! So cute!

Remember that photo from our Kings Island trip last year?
Miss Macey could barely keep her eyes open long enough to
eat her pizza! She fell asleep right on the table!

Let's see if that happens again tomorrow...
We've decided to take a VERY impromptu trip ;)

Did you think I forgot? Sorry ;) Work and life are interfering with
my blogging schedule!
On to the birthday party!! The four year old birthday is quite the
event, let me tell you!

We started the day with a fabulous Superhero breakfast made
by Aunt Stephanie. Bananas Foster Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs,
Hash Browns, BACON - Macey was very excited! Sausage and
yummy Smoothies!

... and the Superhero's!

Then we headed home to make treat bags for all of our friends!

Next up, we arrived at the Paint Your Own Pottery Studio and
Drew and Macey set the table for dinner.

... there were about to be 20 four year olds running around the
studio!!! ( I was soooooooo nervous! )

We had pizza, chips and juice; opened presents! and then everyone
got to choose their pottery to paint!

... they were so serious and concentrated. It was alot of fun to
watch them carefully choose their colors and paint so intensely.

... and the CUPCAKES! Princess and Spiderman ;)

Are you birthday'd out? I think everyone I know has a birthday
in August! =)
And, we've got TWO in one day!

My little sister. Happy happy wonderful birthday!
And big hugs and kisses from Drew and Macey ;)

We spent the day scrapbooking (yay!). Had so much fun (despite

the awful cold I'm fighting)

Had a fabulous dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy. I may have been

a little more excited about her birthday dinner than she was, haha!

I must have ordered us alot of food, because she asked if we should

get a bigger table!

And, we finished with a little Cheesecake Factory. YUM.

Good day ;)

We also delivered a little Cheesecake to my friend Kecia who

gets to share her birthday with my sister!

This is what turning four looks like! =)
So hard to believe that four years have gone by.

I was watching Macey run through the kitchen in her socked
feet, listening to Drew playing Legos in the living room and
thinking how very lucky we are to have the pitter patter of four
little feet running through our house every day.

Listening to their giggles, watching them grow, seeing him make his
own decisions, benefiting from her playful imagination and getting
unlimited "momma meeshy mushi" hugs and kisses or daddy tickle
monster games.

... Macey has developed a fear of the dark and wakes me every
30 minutes
... Drew tries to rhyme everything
... Every one of Macey's babies are named after someone in her class
... Drew is completely obsessed with Spiderman ;)
... Macey thinks at least one of her dolls needs to be in time out at least
once a day, haha!
... Macey loves jewelry and playing with momma's make up
... Drew is very interested in the workers building the house across
the street and gets worried when they don't show up for a day
... Macey loves to do laundry =)
... Drew will choke down any amount of chicken, smothered in ketchup
to get a single M&M for dessert!

We successfully pulled off the surprise party two weeks ago, but
today we're officially celebrating!
My cutie pie husband and his 30th birthday! (thank goodness! I
thought this boy would never turn 30!)

me: "yes, baby. today is her actual birthday?"
mj: "how old is grandma?"
me: "she's xx." (you didn't think i'd actually put it on the blog, did
you?!? i may be out of the house, but i'm still afraid of her!)
mj: "how do you know that's how old she is?"
me: "because she's my mom and you always know how old your
mom is."
mj: "momma, i know - you're 21!!!"
me: "that's right!!! i LOVE you macey jayne" =)

Happy Birthday Mom! I love you, for sooo many reasons...

for always being my playmate when i was little, for buying me cute

clothes and shoes in all the right sizes, for all the cheerleading shoes,

prom dresses, show choir stuff, for the millions of dollars in barbie

doll clothes, shoes, houses and accessories, for showing up 2 hours

early to my c-section unexpected, for calling me 15 times a day at

work and always saying " i hate to bother you" =), for all the band

days, for hand sewing 15 yards of lace on any given dress that you

know i might wear once, for always giving in when i was 16, for

teaching me how to drive a 5 speed and only yelling at me once (or

twice), for taking care of drew and macey, for letting me have

sleepovers on school nights, for letting me miss school to go shopping

with you and gram's, for your beef stew that is sooo much better

than mine, for your strawberry crepes recipe, for telling me it's going

to be ok even when you know it's not, for holding my hand when i

was little, for carrying me around the apartment in key west because

you were afraid to put me down, for acceptance, for cleaning my house

numerous times when we're out of town, for teaching me to be

unselfish and as giving as i can be, for letting me have all the change

from your tip money, for all the birthday parties and pool parties, for

the understanding, compassion and love, for playing lift off with drew

and macey, for putting up with my momma quirks and not feeding

them junk food or letting them stay up too late, for showing me how

to thread my sewing machine over and over and over (i promise i'll

get it eventually!), for my favorite curtains in the living room!, for

so many more reasons that i could mention endlessly.

( Pool Play )

... and a little vacation time this week!
Spent some time playing with the babes, doing a little organizing,
about 19 loads of laundry stuck in there somewhere, and just
general nothingness - the best kind of vacation ;)

And, during our little vacay, had a little pool play with Aunt Liesel!
We built awesome sand castles with Drew, went "swimming" in
the deep end (where Macey Jayne loves to go) and they even got
momma to go down the waterslide so they could watch me, ha!
